Puddles & Splash Arrive In Natchez, Mississippi

  • On October 23, 2015

Puddles and Splash continued their travels in America this month and having left Albuquerque, New Mexico they arrived in Natchez, Mississippi this weekend for the Great Mississippi River Balloon Race!

Both special shape penguins flew on the Friday morning press flight where all of the local journalists had come out to cover the event. Puddles and Splash took off from Concordia Parish Airport and flew for nearly an hour alongside the river.

Friday night saw the famous Night Glow at Rosalie Bicentennial Gardens where huge crowds turned out to see the hot air balloons. High winds meant that the start of the glow had been delayed and unfortunately they dissipated only slightly after sunset.

Determined to make sure the crowds didn’t go home disappointed, the two teams for Puddles and Splash joined forces and worked together to safely inflate Splash in gusty conditions for her first glow in Mississippi. Huge cheers were heard from the crowds as she was the only balloon to inflate and tether, burning in synchronicity to the music.

After the glow had finished dozens of people came up to Exclusive Ballooning team members to thank them for their efforts.

Sadly the high wind speeds precluded further flights during the weekend but Puddles and Splash had already made an impression, making the front page of the local newspaper two days in a row and becoming everyone’s favourite balloons!¬†We are already looking forward to the 2016 event!
